Getting Here

Wherever you're coming from, Ayrshire and the Isle of Arran are easy to get to by land, sea and air. A good transport network means that wherever your starting, we're never more than a few hours away.

By Land

From England, just head towards Carlisle, and then follow signs for Ayr once you've crossed the border into Scotland. The scenic route Galloway Tourist Route along the A713 is a beautiful alternative to the main roads, and takes you through scenic villages and into magnificent countryside. From the north, just head south, and veer towards Ayrshire after Glasgow (M77/A77). Ayrshire has good train links with Glasgow which in turn has good train links with the rest of the country, with regular express trains to and from England and the rest of Scotland.

By Sea

There are ferry services from Larne to Cairnryan and a high speed service from Belfast to Troon.Caledonian MacBrayne run regular ferries to Brodick on the Isle of Arran from Ardrossan, and to Lochranza, in the north of the Island to Claonaig on Kintyre.There are also frequent ferries from Largs to Cumbrae, one of Ayrshire's smaller islands.

By Air

Ayrshire has its own International Airport at Prestwick, and Ryanair runs a number of budget flights to and from London Stansted, a variety of other destinations in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. ScotRail has special offers for train travellers who are flying to and from Glasgow Prestwick International Airport. Glasgow Airport is only 40 minutes away. There's straightforward bus link to Paisley Gilmour Street Station, which is on the main Glasgow - Ayr line.
